5.15 Automatic location report CMD.
When location is reported by a second-generation ALE system, it shall use one of the following location report CMD formats.
5.15.1 Coarse location.
Position of the transmitter can be reported to within a 15° grid square using a single ALE word. When this precision is adequate the location CMD shall be formatted as shown on figure 30.

The Req bit shall be set to 1 to request a location report in response, or to 0 if no report is requested. The N bit shall be set to 1 if the position is in the northern hemisphere, or to 0 if in the southern hemisphere. The E bit shall be set to 1 if the location is in the eastern hemisphere, or to
0 if in the western hemisphere. The Lat Zone shall be set to the latitude divided by 15, rounded to an integer, in a range of 0 through 6. Lat Zone shall be set to 7 (111) to indicate unknown latitude. The Lon Zone shall be set to the longitude divided by 15, rounded to an integer, in a range of 0 through 12. Lon Zone shall be set to 15 to indicate unknown latitude; other values are reserved.
